Sebring International Speedway

Racing is an intensive sport that entails immense pressure. It’s a thrilling experience that’s highly unpredictable for both spectators and most importantly, the racing teams. Unfortunately, our weekend came to a sudden stop that was out of our control; however, we still walked away with a solid win at Sebring International! Especially when it’s our FIRST year participating in the TransAM TA2 series. 👀

Race Recap:

SigalSports Racing has adopted the Chevrolet Camaro SS for the 2022 TransAM series. This wild child needed some behavioral adjustments in order to compete at Sebring international. We came into the weekend running off-competitive pace during the initial practice session.

Fun Facts 👀

TransAM TA2 teams are only granted:

  • Two 35min test sessions

  • One 25min test session on qualifying day

  • They cannot rent the track no less than 2 weeks prior to race day.

For racing teams, every ounce of commitment and track data is extremely imperative towards having a successful race weekend.

  • After multiple therapy sessions between the wild child (Camaro SS) and the pit crew, we managed to shave off 4-5 seconds heading into qualifying through microscopic adjustments on every aspect of the suspension system.

  • We came into qualifying at a strong competitive pace; however, our transmission blew-out 1st gear shortly into the qualifying session. In return, we qualified 40th.

  • Due to overwhelming commitment and solid team-work, our team discovered the issue and completely overhauled the transmission within 17hrs to get ready for race day.

  • Finally, let’s talk about the race! On race day, Gene Sigal discovered tremendous pace and managed to steal 15 positions within the first 15 Laps moving from 40th to 25th. 🛞💨

  • On Lap 16, there was an unfortunate incident involving two other drivers that left a dangerous cloud of smoke that eliminated visibility for all teams succeeding them. Unfortunately, the severe visibility issue hid a dangerous situation of race cars bouncing back across the track that left our driver, Gene Sigal, impaling the hidden cars while reaching speeds of 130+MPH.

Our Driver, Gene Sigal, managed to walk away safely with minor bruising and cuts. Gene Sigal in an integral part of the camaraderie of SigalSports Racing. We’re thankful to enjoy his presence for another day.

We also want to show respect to all other drivers involved in the racing incident. We are honored to share a competitive field with them and we’re thankful that their families can still enjoy them for another race weekend! Even though racing is competitive and sometimes even cut-throat, it stays on the track. Off the track, the racing field is still family.
